Meet Our Team

At Carman’s Canines, we believe that all dogs deserve compassionate care, tailored training, and a safe, happy environment. Founded by Izzy Carman during her university days, our team has grown into a dedicated group of professionals united by a shared love for dogs. Drawing on years of hands-on experience and a commitment to their well-being, we strive to provide exceptional services tailored to the unique needs of every dog in our care.

Hi, I'm Izzy

My passion for dogs started early on: my first sentence was "Can I stroke your dog, please?" Dogs have played a major role throughout my life: I’ve grasped every opportunity to pursue my passion, gaining considerable canine experience. Over many years, I have provided dog sitting and walking services, nurtured and trained puppies, and offered my time to volunteer in dog shelters.

Having graduated from the University of Bath with a first-class degree in Education with Psychology, I am thrilled to apply my psychological knowledge in my work as a dog trainer.

In March 2020, whilst in my first year at University, I successfully established Carman’s Canines as a grooming business, dedicating every weekend to looking after multiple dogs. By volunteering at dog shelters in Malaga, Spain and in Thailand, I gained valuable experience working closely with challenging and traumatised dogs while addressing various behavioural difficulties.

My affection for dogs, combined with my experience and understanding of them enable me to employ tailored approaches to cater to the individual needs of each dog in all of our services. My unwavering ethical commitment centres on ensuring the well-being of every dog with which I work. Using positive training techniques, my primary objective is to positively impact on as many dogs as possible.

Hi, I'm Madison

I have had a passion for animals for as long as I can remember. Fascinated and intrigued by their behaviours, I was always eager to learn more and would spend hours reading books about them. Over time, my interest became more focused on dogs - learning about different breeds, their history, and the behaviours specific to each one.

I grew up in a house with cats and pleaded for a dog for years until, when I was eight years old, my dream finally came true and our family welcomed our first rescue dog. He came with some tricky behaviours, but also the most wonderful personality. I learnt so much from him, and it was through him that my interest in dog behaviour truly began.

After working in other fields, it became clear that the only career I wanted to pursue was within the animal sector. I spent three years working at a veterinary practice before securing a role at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where I worked with dogs in the kennels for just under five years. During my time there, I gained extensive knowledge and hands-on experience assessing behaviour, implementing training plans, and completing onsite training programmes.

Working within a kennel environment often means supporting dogs with more extreme behavioural challenges - issues that may never present in a home setting. Addressing these behaviours in what can be a tense and high-stress environment was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. I absolutely loved my time in rescue and was very sad to leave.

Since 2024, I have been proud to be part of Carman’s Canines, providing basic puppy training, behaviour modification training, dog walking and boarding to our wonderful clients and their amazing pups. I feel so lucky to be part of such an incredible team and to have built strong, trusting relationships with truly fantastic clients. Being able to continue doing what I love, while providing the highest standard of care and training through positive reinforcement methods, is something I am deeply grateful for every single day.

Hi, I'm Benji

I’ve been a dog lover for as long as I can remember. I grew up with Gordon Setters and Border Terriers, and today I’m the proud owner of Dexter, my amazing four-year-old Cocker Spaniel, who keeps me on my toes and inspires my passion for dogs every day.

I’ve been working at Carman’s Canines for the past year, and during that time I’ve developed a genuine love for dog care - from fun and engaging group walks to providing enrichment and building trusting relationships with every dog I work with. I especially enjoy getting to know each dog’s individual personality and helping them feel safe, confident, and happy in my care.

I’ve also volunteered within my community, offering free dog training sessions to help build my experience while supporting responsible dog ownership. This sparked a real passion for learning more about training and behaviour, and I’m really excited to be starting my PACT course soon as the next step in developing my professional knowledge and skills.

I really enjoy being part of the Carman’s Canines team and getting to know all of your wonderful dogs. I feel incredibly lucky to do what I love every day!
